C16’ Timber refers to the strength class each piece of timber achieves from a grading process, which can then be used for structural calculations such as in ‘Span Tables’. The most common grades we use in the UK are C16 and C24. These are primarily used as floor and deck joists, studwork, roof work and framing.
C16 timber is most commonly produced in the UK and Ireland from what are commonly referred to as ‘homegrown’ forests and sawmills and is primarily sourced from Spruce timber.
