47mm x 75mm C24 Treated (44 x 70) (Imperial 2x3/3x2)
C24 Timber has been graded to a higher standard than C16. It’s a premium piece of timber that can handle higher loads and wider spans. C24 Grade can only be achieved by importing timber from areas where the climate forces a slower growth rate and hence a tighter grain and tends to have a smoother finish.
The phrase Carcassing is normally used to refer to timbers processed for use in structural applications, for floor joints and roofing timbers. Roscoe’s have a wide range of sizes and lengths of graded C24 Timber.
Most of our C24 timber has the bevelled/radiused edges and smoother, machined finish. Aesthetically, the round edge timber provides a more pleasing finish and also allows easier application for paints, stains and preservatives.
Some of the larger and longer C24 timber is of a square edge finish due to production capabilities at certain sawmills, it is of the same high quality production.
Our timber is treated with a preservative known as ACQ. This is a water-based timber treatment that uses copper to protect timber from fungi and a quaternary compound to protect timber from copper resistant fungi and insects. It is applied by vacuum pressure impregnation. ACQ is also called ammoniacal copper quaternary or amine copper quaternary.
with ACQ Treated timber you can be safe in the knowledge that your timber is perfectly safe for your children and pets and is safe to use around vegetable gardens. Whilst delivering a wear, pest and fungus resistant installation thwarted will last many years.
MOST SAWMILLS DO NOT SEPARATE 47 X 75 C16/C24 AS IT IS NOT USUALLY LOAD BEARING.
AS IT IS NOT A STRUCTURAL SIZE IT SHOULD HAVE NO BEARING ON YOUR PROJECT
AND THE QUALITY IS OF EQUAL STANDARD BUT IS C16/24 MIXED GRADED
